Bűnös város

Director:
Gábor Herendi

Drawing from the meta-world of the Valami Amerika films, Skyfilm and director Gábor Herendi bring the fictional title “Bűnös Város” to life in a stylish black-and-white short film. Clocking in at around 28 minutes and premiering in 2021, the film acts as a parody of both its own cinematic roots and contemporary political dynamics, injecting the original universe with art-house edge and biting satire.

Filmed in actual locations that mirror Hungary’s public and political spectacles, each shot builds on minimalism and irony—no spectacle for spectacle’s sake, but rather a quietly sharp critique. From its faux-trailer origins to the full short film, "Bűnös Város" mocks the absurdities of power and cultural legacy with familiar characters in surreal situations. It stands on its own as a bold artistic move, proving the Valami Amerika brand still has room to twist and evolve.

A lone folding chair sits in the middle of a vast wheat field under a cloudy sky, with the bold title Bűnös Város floating above.
