Hetedik Alabárdos

Director:
Csaba Vékes

In this witty career-satire, overlooked extra Miklós (Bánki Gergely) suddenly gets the offer of a lifetime: from perpetual background player to the lead director of the very same theatre. As he navigates backstage politics, absurd expectations and a cast of quirky personalities, the film takes the “show-inside-the-show” trope and spins it into a hilarious reflection on ambition, ego and the art of taking centre stage.

Premiering in 2017 and backed by Skyfilm, the movie screened at the Montréal World Film Festival and the Jameson CineFest before its Hungarian cinema launch. With a vibrant ensemble cast including Nagy Ervin, Ónodi Gábor and others, this theatrical ride—with its signature absurdist streak—earned a devoted audience and became a fresh addition to the Hungarian comedy scene.
